Quiet Warrior Ep.4 – Companions for Heroes (C4H) with David Sharpe

Ep 4 of ‘Quiet Warrior’: David Sharpe started Companions For Heroes (C4H) with the hopes of aiding veterans and saving dogs from shelters. Since it’s inception, C4H has helped over 1500 service members while finding homes for shelter and rescue pets.

A Quiet Warrior is a law enforcement, first-responder, or military personnel who serves their community through selfless acts of heroism. To read more Quiet Warrior stories or to tell us about a Quiet Warrior in your community, visit us at https://www.511tactical.com/quiet-warrior

Honoring Veterans

Poteet Funeral Home knows how to work with military families.

An important part of serving military families is coordinating the appropriate military honors for your loved one. Honors is basically broken down into two parts:

Full Honors for retired military (pallbearers, the 21-gun salute, playing of taps, folding the flag, and a chaplain)

Regular Honors for honorable discharged servicemen and women (three-man detail team that will come and fold the flag, present the flag to the next of kin, and taps on the bugle)

If we’re serving the family that was
military we have a form we fill out to receive their flag from the post office. We bring the flag back to the funeral home and we fold it, and we either put it in a triangle and we display in the case or we put it on the foot-end of the casket and display it that way as well.

Our merchandise is made specifically for veterans.

The Patriot is a silver exterior color with a white velvet interior color. The style of this casket highlights the service uniform.

The other casket is called the Gold Midnight. It has interchangeable corners which allows us to place a medallion on the corners of the casket. Once the ceremony is complete we actually take those corners off and place them on plaques for the family to have as keepsakes.

We also have veteran urns that we have for your loved one to be placed into once the cremation has taken place.

Poteet does a lot of military services, and our proximity to Fort Gordon allows for a very good working relationship. Fort Gordon supplies our honor team that will do the military honors.

At Poteet Funeral Home, we have a very good working knowledge of getting the military honors together and serving military families.

Veterans Should Be Able to Choose How They Use the Benefits They’ve Earned

We had the honor of meeting Mike and his daughter Gabby. Mike is a Navy Veteran and earned his G.I. Bill benefits over 24 years and transferred his benefits to his two daughters. Gabby talked to us about the sacrifices she made at home while her Dad was deployed serving our Nation. VEP and EANGUS believe that those who have earned their benefits have also earned the right to decide how to use them.

Join us as we fight for equal benefits for ALL members of the military!
