When veterans enroll at elite schools, they’re not just students

Today, a college degree is widely considered a prerequisite for career success — but military veterans, often from low-income backgrounds, tend to lack the financial resources to pursue higher education. The nonprofit Posse Foundation aims to alter this dynamic, sending veterans to elite schools that otherwise would have been off-limits. Special correspondent Jackie Judd reports.

Vietnam Veterans never expected this..

Vietnam veterans were stereotyped and demonized to such a great extent that even the widows of deceased servicemen received late-night harassing phone calls. It has been said by some that at no point in our country’s history have our veterans been hurt more by our own countrymen than by the enemy. For many vets, the homecoming was often a powerful first encounter that made their adjustment to civilian society more difficult.
